Electricity from manure is produced in Latvian village Zemgali

03.06.2011 Biogas plant in Zemgali, Latvia, supplied first electricity to public grid under "green" tariff.
Nominal electric power of biogas plant is 500 kW. Plant is equipped with 2400 м3 + 1400 м3 digesters and co-generation unit with 600 kW capacity. Biogas plant was started using liquid manure. Switching for main feed stock, which is corn silage is planned after the first crop will be harvested.
Latvian company EcoGen SIA’s ordered Swiss Zorg Biogas AG all design, equipment and supervision over the construction works. Project lead time from construction till plant commissioning made 9 months.
