|
| In case you don’t have biological waste, you can grow energy crops for biogas production: corn, rosinweed, goat's rue, permanent grasses, algae and micro algae. Also biogas plant can be used as separate business on wastes recycling and energy services. |
In particular about biogas plant benefits
Main benefits
- biogas,
- bio-fertilizer,
Additional benefits
- electric an heat power (in case of additional module installation),
- methane as vehicle fuel or as natural gas substitute supply to grid (in case of additional module installation),
- investment savings (for new companies),
- ecology (in case of by products recycling)
Biogas
|
By properties biogas is very similar to natural gas. Synonyms for biogas are such words as methane, sewage gas, marsh gas.
Biogas caloric value if from 6000 to 9500 ccal/m3.
Biogas can be:
- burned in boilers as natural gas;
- burned with the purpose of electric and heat power production;
- after its treatment up to methane it can be used as fuel for vehicles;
|
Information
Biogas - is gas with 50-70% of methane (CH4) and 50-30% of carbon dioxide (CO2) content. It is produced while anaerobic decomposition of organic matter and as is a product of bacteria metabolism.
Anaerobic digestion - the process of organic matter decomposition without oxygen access

Bio-fertilizer
|
Biogas technology allows quick production of bio fertilizers which contain biologically active substances and microelements by means of anaerobic digestion. The main advantages of bio-fertilizer to be compared with conventional are it’s form, availability, nutrients balance and high level of organic matter humification. Organic matter is a powerful energy material for soil microorganisms, that is why after bio fertilizer application nitrogen-fixing and other microbiologcal processes are amplified. Above mentioned factor have positive effect to soil and its physical and mechanical properties and as a result after application of balanced bio fertilizers crop yields can increased up to 30-50%.

Electricity
|
Buy burning 1 m3 of biogas in co-generation unit it is possible to produce 2,3 kWh of electric and 2,8 kWh of heat power. Biogas is burned without any treatment.
Generator
|
Information
Co-generation unit - is equipment for combined production of heat and electricity. They use gas internal-combustion engine adapted to run on biogas.
|
Heat power
Heat power can be used for:
- buildings heating,
- technological purposes, ,
- steam generation.
Heat power produced by cooling the engine in co-generator. Biogas can combusted for heat production. As an option heat power can be used for refrigerator evaporators.

Greenhouse |
Methane
|
In order to use biogas as vehicle fuel or supply to gas grid it must be upgraded (CO2 removal) to biomentane with the help of biogas treatment system. After treatment produced gas is analog of natural gas (90-95 % of CH4). The only one difference is its source.
Information
СО2 (carbon dioxide) - colorless gas with acidulous smell, not toxic. It is the main source of carbon for plants. In liquid state it can be stored in balloons under high pressure 65-70 bar. In solid state it is usually known as dry ice. Main usage in greenhouses, vegetable storages, food industry (as preserving agent or for beverages), refrigeration plants, fire extinguishers.

Ecology
|
Biogas plant is the most efficient cleaning system. Any other cleaning systems consume energy but not produce it.
As all processes take place in oxygen free conditions (digesters completely sealed) it is odor free. Biogas plant allows to remove most part of contaminating organic substances that is why digested biomass has no bed smell.
Biogas plant makes possible sanitary zone (distance from facility to living zone) reduction from 500 m to 150 m. For many companies ecological issues are of vital significance.
In case biogas plant equipped with additional purification modules like membrane bioreactors, liquid digested biomass can be treated up to COD and BOD levels that are acceptable for open water surface or sewage system discharge. COD - chemical oxygen demand BOD - biological oxygen demand.
|
Investments saving
|
Without construction of biogas plant new enterprise anyway need need to have waste storage facilities or treatment systems.
For example untreated manure storage is 2 times larger then storage of digested biomass after biogas plant. Manure in combination with water forms colloid compounds. Due to that water evaporates rather hardly and in case of precipitations it is accumulated. After biogas plant digested and mineralized water is not tended to form colloid compounds.
|
More over!
|
Biogas production is the best way to preserve methane atmospheric emission and global warming prevention.
Information
ERU - Emission Reduction Unit equals to one ton of CO2 equivalent ( CO2 is used as a value unit to measure greenhouse gases, for example one cubic meter of methane equals 21 metric ton of CO2). In the international market ERU became a commodity for individuals, legal entities and countries. Countries that joined Kyoto Protocol can buy, sell or perform other operations in regards to the greenhouse gases emission rights.
