Activated Carbon Filter ACF-300

The ACF-300 activated carbon filter is designed for biogas desulfurization and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) removal. It provides final purification of pretreated biogas before the gas is supplied to CHP engines or other downstream equipment. With a suitable activated carbon grade and appropriate gas conditions, residual H₂S can be reduced to near-zero levels.

The filter has a 0.6 m³ activated carbon bed and holds up to 300 kg of activated carbon. The carbon grade is selected for the gas composition and treatment duty. Carbon service life depends on the inlet H₂S concentration, gas flow, humidity and operating conditions.

Biogas flow up to 220 Nm³/h

The ACF-300 is designed for biogas flow rates up to 220 Nm³/h. Gas connection options are DN80 / DN100 / DN125, selected to suit the gas line. The operating pressure range is −50 to +250 mbar, with a maximum pressure loss of 5 mbar.

The filter can be integrated into a gas treatment line after the gas blower. Several filters can be arranged in series or in parallel to suit the plant layout and operating requirements.

Stainless steel vessel with side discharge

The vessel is made of stainless steel 1.4571 / AISI 316Ti for corrosion resistance in biogas applications. Its diameter is 850 mm and its height is 2,250 mm.

Fresh activated carbon is loaded through the Ø500 mm top filling manhole. Spent carbon is removed through the Ø500 mm side discharge manhole. This standard arrangement provides access for carbon replacement and vessel maintenance.

Monitoring the activated carbon bed

The filter includes three ½-inch gas sampling points for monitoring activated carbon saturation at 50%, 75% and 90% of the bed. Samples from these positions help operators track H₂S breakthrough and plan carbon replacement.

Two 2-inch connections with C-52 quick couplings are provided for nitrogen purging during servicing.

Initial activated carbon filling and thermal insulation are quoted separately. The ACF-300 is a compact solution for final biogas purification, hydrogen sulfide removal and activated carbon filtration.
